Abstract
Anti-leucine-rich-glioma-inactivated 1 (LGI1) encephalitis is the second most common type of autoimmune encephalitis, characterized by subacute disturbance of memory, behavior and other psychiatric disturbances. In the early stages of the disease, LGI1 encephalitis may clinically mimic other types of dementia or psychiatric disturbances, making early diagnosis challenging. Herein we report a case of LGI1 encephalitis that initially presented with clinical features resembling Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome, underscoring the importance of including autoimmune encephalitis in the differential diagnosis of subacute neuropsychiatric syndromes.
