Abstract
Background and purpose : Cerebrovascular disease, one of the most morbific and mortal disease, has changed to ischemic from hemorrhagic disease in the disease pattern. Therefore, we would find the bases of treatment and prevention of ischemic disease through comparison of lipid levels in cerebral ischemic patients and normal persons. Methods : We compared the components of blood lipid between patient group, 286 cases that admitted due to cerebral ischemic diseases in neurology department and control group, 242 cases that had decised normal state at the other items except blood lipid through the health examination from January 1994 to December 1996. Results : From 40 to 69 years old, serum cholesterol and triglyceride had significant difference between two same age groups (serum cholesterol- 186.0㎎/㎗ in the control group, 198.9㎎/㎗ in the patients group, and serum triglyceride- 125.6㎎/㎗ in the control group, 169.1㎎/㎗ in the patients group). We could not find significant difference in the low density lipoprotein cholesterol and the high density lipoprotein cholesterol level in the patinets group was investigated than that in the control group. In the relation with age, total cholesterol was increased up to 5th decade and triglyceride was increased up to 6th decade, and had little changes after these decades in control group. In patients group, there was no relationship between age and blood lipid. Conclusion : Because the fact that blood lipid is related with arteriosclerosis was demonstrated at several studies, same relationship was suspected at cerebral ischemic disease. But according to this study, normal values and risk values of blood lipid, especially triglyceride, for cerebral ischemia can be different from values for cardiac ischemia or western reference values, therefore we think more broad study should be made for these values and relationship. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Key Words : cerebrovascular disease , cerebral ischemic disease , blood lipid cholesterol
