Abstract
Cryosurgery-induced neuropathy is rare but the most serious and undesirable complication of cutaneous crysurgery. It presents variable clinical manifestation from mild sensory disturbance to motor paralysis. Few cases of nerve damage due to cryosurgery have been reported and all appear to have been temporary. We report a rare case of cryosurgery-induced median nerve neuropathy. A 54-year-old woman visited our hospital because of hyperalgesia and dysesthesla in her left palm, and benediction hand. These symptoms developed after cryosurgery in left wrist due to vitiligo. NCV studies showed very low amplitude in left median nerve. In EMG studies, fibrillations and positive sharp waves were seen in left median nerve innervated muscles. We treated her with physical and medical therapy, and her symptoms. NCV and EMG findings have been improving. Kor Neurol Ass 16(6):899∼901, 1998 Key words : neuropathy, Cryosurgery, Median nerve
